Items to wear with a poncho

Styling a poncho can be a real head-scratcher. They've always been kind of dressy, yet not too fancy, especially when it comes to outerwear. But honestly, you don't have to overthink it when putting together an outfit with a poncho.

Wear over a long-sleeved T-shirt

Ponchos are a great alternative to a light coat or jacket when the autumn months come around. When paired with a long-sleeved T-shirt, it is the perfect look for the school run or running errands. Choosing a plain coloured top means you can think less about colour clashes than if you were to pick a patterned style.

Wear over a collared shirt

A smart shirt can transform your outfit from casual to smart in an instant. Try tucking a crisp white shirt into a smart skirt, trousers, or even skinny jeans for a versatile and stylish look.

Wear with skinny jeans

When it comes to a poncho on top, skinny jeans are your stylish go-to. Avoid overwhelming volume on both halves. Stick with skinny jeans for a chic daytime look or casual evenings out.

Wear with Tall Boots

For your skinny jeans, consider footwear. Opt for tall boots, whether it's a riding style or a trendy biker boot. Tucking your bottoms into boots has a clean look and is ideal for the British weather!

Wear with leggings or jodhpurs

If you struggle with tucking jeans into boots, we recommend wearing jodhpurs or thick leggings instead. These tend to be a little more casual than jeans, so these are best for countryside walks. Dark colours are flattering on any figure, just make sure your jodhpurs are fitted but not too tight. They are designed to be comfortable enough to move in but not too snug that you’re struggling to breathe or walk!

For petite ladies, a poncho can be overwhelming. The amount of fabric can seem too much and overpower your small frame. A wider leather belt can be added to cinch at the waist and gather all the fabric underneath.
